Our hands-on course focuses on advanced installation and configuration of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) v7 and v8 in global, multisite networks.

You will learn how to build the system from scratch to provide:

•A variable-length on-net dial plan supporting overlapping extensions, as described in Cisco's Unified Communications System Release 8.x SRND
•Remote site survivability (SRST and SRST with CME) bandwidth management
•Mobility features, such as device mobility and extension mobility, used in networks with multiple sites
•Survivability for remote sites during WAN failure
•Automated alternate routing (AAR) to deliver calls over the public switched telephone network (PSTN) if no bandwidth is available
Since globalization is key in today's business world, you'll learn how to use local route groups and global transformations to simplify the dial plan and prepare for globalization without implementing E.164 dialing. Then, you will investigate deploying E.164 and explore the challenges of globalization presented by the North American Numbering Plan (NANP).

Course Overview

Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Part 2 (CIPT2) v8.0 prepares you for implementing Cisco Unified Communications solution in a multisite environment. It covers globalized call routing, Cisco Service Advertisement Framework (SAF) and Call Control Discovery (CCD), tail-end hop-off (TEHO), Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST), and mobility features such as Cisco Device Mobility and Cisco Extension Mobility.
You will apply a dial plan for a multisite environment including TEHO, configure survivability for remote sites during WAN failure and implement solutions to reduce bandwidth requirements in the IP WAN. You will also enable Call Admission Control (CAC) including Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Preconditions and automated alternate routing (AAR).

Prerequisites

The knowledge and skills that you should have before attending this course are as follows:

•Working knowledge of converged voice and data networks
•Working knowledge of the MGCP, SIP, and H.323 protocols and their implementation on Cisco IOS gateways
•Ability to configure and operate Cisco routers and switches
•Ability to configure and operate Cisco Unified Communications Manager in a single-site environment
Preferred but not required are:

•ICOMM - Introducing Cisco Voice and UC Administration v8.0
•CVOICE - Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Voice over IP and QoS v8.0
