Learn to manage your network using Cisco's completely reengineered CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution version 4.0. Harness the power of LMS 4.0 to manage your Cisco network devices. In this course, you will learn to:
•Automate the inventory collection process and produce detailed reports
•Simultaneously deploy consistent configuration and operating system updates to multiple devices across your network
•Verify configuration compliance across the Cisco devices in your network
•Archive and report on configuration change history
•Visualize physical and logical connectivity within your network
•Monitor and troubleshoot network performance and faults
•Utilize the latest CiscoWorks Work Centers: Smart Install, Identity, Auto Smartports, and EnergyWise
•Optimize CiscoWorks LMS administrative settings
•Scale the CiscoWorks LMS architecture across multiple servers
The scenarios presented in our labs are realistic and meaningful, guaranteeing practical experience managing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches.
•When performing network discovery, you will deal with issues such as inconsistent SNMP community strings or non-existent SNMP community strings.
•Instead of simply viewing the current spanning tree in a switching environment, you will view a sub-optimal spanning tree, fix it, and then verify optimization by viewing it again.
•Instead of running a discrepancy report to see if there are any reported issues, you will definitely find issues and use the tools within LMS to fix the issues.
•Instead of running a fault analysis report to see if there are any current faults, you will cause fault conditions, see the alerts in real time, fix the fault conditions, and watch the alerts clear in real time.
•Instead of configuring the settings of each application for you, we leave them in their default state, allowing you to change settings as appropriate for the situations presented in the labs.
•You will configure and execute device discoveries, instead of finding the devices pre-populated in the LMS databases.
Each two-student pod includes:
•A dedicated VMware server with dual, quad core processors and plenty of RAM
•Dedicated CiscoWorks server
•Router and three switches dedicated to it for read/write management
The shared core includes:
•30+ routers and switches
•An Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA)
•Links of different types and speeds, including WAN links and VPN links
•Many end-user workstations and PCs connected to the network
What You'll Learn
•Better manage your network
•Discover the Cisco devices in your network
•Visualize the topology of your network, including links between Cisco devices and Layer 2 spanning tree topologies
•Collect and track accurate inventory data from Cisco devices
•Automatically maintain a historical archive of the configurations on all of your Cisco devices as the configurations change over time
•Update the configurations on the Cisco devices on your network, including pushing similar configuration changes to many devices at the same time
•Build a library of Cisco operating systems and update the operating systems running on your Cisco devices
•Track and analyze network performance including latency and jitter tests
•Detect potentially complex fault situations on your Cisco devices
•Set up a multiserver trust relationship between multiple CiscoWorks servers and tie LMS to CiscoSecure Access Control Server for AAA functions
•Maintain your CiscoWorks LMS server
