Computer Data, Inc. has elected to self-certify to the Department of Commerce that it adheres to the Safe Harbor Privacy Principles and the Frequently Asked Questions (collectively, the “Safe Harbor Principles”) established by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Computer Data, Inc.’s compliance under the Safe Harbor Principles assures our clients that transmit personal information from the European Union to Computer Data, Inc. that Computer Data, Inc. provides “adequate” privacy protection for covered data, as defined and required by the European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection.

Computer Data, Inc. provides computer training and other services for its clients.  Information typically collected includes:

  • Name
  • Business and/or other telephone numbers
  • Email address
  • Employee or badge number if provided
  • Mailing address
  • Your evaluation of the training received  (may be provided anonymously)
  • Your estimation of the value of the training (may be provided anonymously)
  • Class attendance
  • Payment information
  • History of classes attended at Computer Data, Inc.

Computer Data, Inc. does not typically collect sensitive information (i.e. personal information specifying medical or health conditions, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership or information specifying the sex life of the individual).

The Safe Harbor is based on the following seven Principles:

  1. Notice: Computer Data, Inc. will use your personal information for:
    1. Scheduling you into a particular class and alerting you to changes in dates, times, venues or other information regarding your attendance in a particular class
    2. Helping you or your employer determine additional classes that may be valuable to you or your employer
    3. Helping you or your employer determine the quality and value of the training received
    4. Providing proof of attendance to you or your employer
    5. Providing invoices and collecting amounts owed to Computer Data, Inc.
  2. Choice: Computer Data, Inc. will offer individuals the opportunity to choose (opt-out) whether their personal information is:
    1. to be disclosed to a non-agent third party
    2. to be used for a purpose other than the purpose for which it was originally collected or subsequently authorized by the individual.

    For sensitive personal information, Computer Data, Inc. will give individuals the opportunity to affirmatively and explicitly (opt-in) consent to the disclosure of the information to a non-agent third party or the use of the information for a purpose other than the purpose for which it was originally collected or subsequently authorized by the individual.

    Computer Data, Inc. will provide individuals with reasonable methods to exercise their choices.

  3. Onward Transfer: Information about you (such as name, address, and phone number) or the services you purchase will not be given or sold to any outside organization for its use in marketing or solicitation. Your information may be shared with contractors of Computer Data, Inc. Contractors of Computer Data, Inc. who have access to your personal information are required to keep the information confidential and not use it for any other purpose than to carry out the services they are performing. Computer Data, Inc. may enhance or merge your information collected at its site with data from third parties for purposes of marketing products or services to you.

    In certain circumstances information about your attendance or conduct in class and your satisfaction and/or the value of the training may be shared with your employer.

    In certain circumstances your comments about a class and/or the value you receive from a class may be anonymously shared with perspective future clients of Computer Data, Inc.

  4. Security: Security is extremely important to Computer Data, Inc. Accordingly, Computer Data, Inc. takes significant security precautions to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.
  5. Data Integrity: You can have factual inaccuracies in this information corrected by contacting and detailing in the text your requested changes.
  6. Access: You may ask to review and correct the Personal Information that we maintain about you by sending a written request to the contact information provided below.
  7. Enforcement: Individuals who believe that Computer Data, Inc. has violated the Safe Harbor Principles or this Safe Harbor Privacy Policy should send a written notice to the contact information provided below:

If your complaint is not adequately addressed by Computer Data, Inc., you may contact the appropriate European Data Authorities. Because Computer Data, Inc. processes human resources data for its clients, Computer Data, Inc. has agreed to cooperate with the European Data Authorities as its independent dispute resolution mechanism.

Computer Data, Inc. reserves the right to change this Safe Harbor Privacy Policy at any time in accordance with the Safe Harbor Principles.
